Cool idea! You should keep doing these every so often. When I do side by side cuppings, I always try to smell and taste in both directions. For instance, I’ll start by smelling the Rishi, then the teagschwendner. Then I’ll quickly smell the Rishi again just before taking a sip, followed by the same for teagschwendner. Then I’ll repeat this whole process the other direction, starting with the teagschwender. Sometimes I notes certain notes will stand out more if they are smelled or tasted on a cleaner palate, or at least one that isn’t already influenced by the other tea.

Nit-picky attention to detail, I know. Worth a thought, though.

Jeff- great suggestions on tasting during a comparison cupping. The WTR community is glad to have your perspective.

And yes, I do plan more comparison cuppings. Stay tuned on Mondays for the next few weeks.
