Going Nudo among friends and family need not be embarrassing.
Nudo started out by offering olive trees for adoption. Adopters received oils produced by their adopted trees.
This holiday season, Nudo includes Darjeeling teas.
Choose to adopt for yourself or as a gift. Then decide which estate you want your tea to come from.
Mullootar: Originally established in 1870 with China bush. Incorporates biodynamic farming practices.
Nagri: Started over 140 years ago, but was abandoned for some time. Converted to organic and biodynamic practices in 2007.
Nurbong: Also originally established in 1870. Part of the garden is covered by protected subtropical forest.
Sivitar: Employs biodynamic farming practices, and has sections at an elevation of 4,000 feet.
and Chongtong Tea Estate.
All of which are owned by the Ambootia Tea Group.
Teas You Get
Basic Adoption Packs include the Spring Delivery, which is harvested the previous Autumn. The Autumnal harvest is not usually the most-hyped of Darjeeling harvests. In the sample pack I received, the Spring Delivery (aka Golden Harvest) had richer color, but was less complex in aromas and flavors than the first or second flushes.
Of the four teas, the Monsoon (Winter Delivery) and the Golden Harvest (Spring Delivery) will be the poorer tea drinking experiences. You could avoid the Monsoon harvest by opting for the adoption as a gift and selecting to receive the First and Second Flushes only. This would save you a little coin, and some potential disappointment.
